Welcome to the osu.edu redesign blog!
osu.edu is being redesigned and you can help.
12 years of osu.edu: 2005-

2005-: A fixed width design for 800x600 pixel monitors. At the very top a common "Nav-bar" adopted by many Ohio State sites. Main navigation remains in the upper right, but as plain hyperlinks instead of Flash.

opening page
Please keep the "find people" tab prominant on the opening page, that function is a big help and not often found on other university web sites, thanks
opening page(homepage)
I agree with the last statement, BUT the only people able to use the "Find People" function should be those of the university community; those with valid ID's, such as williams.1, johns.5, johnson.4 and so on. I don't want any random person from anyplace on the planet looking up my address and what-not. This needs to be fixed.
Find People Info
I was under the understanding that one may either choose to be included in the Find People OSU database with address etc, or choose to opt out of it.
If this is correct, opt out if thats your choice. However, perhaps an improvement would be fields and the name while "public" could have fields for email address, street address, phone, etc which could be toggled by the individual to their preferences and comfort levels.

Search Engine
I think they should fix the search engine while they're doing everything else. It has improved in recent years, but it's still far from user-friendly; most of the results are completely useless. In my experience, the search engine tends to return more old data than current.
I completely agree, the
I completely agree, the search engine is near useless
Carmen
Please add a link to Carmen next to the webmail link on the Nav Bar. I use carmen for all of my classes, and check it as often as I do my webmail.
Thanks!
Carmen in the Nav-bar?
Hi Paige,
A link to "BuckeyeLink" (the umbrella site for all student services) will be added to the nav-bar.
At this point there are no plans to add a link to Carmen to the nav-bar.
BuckeyeLink will be getting an update in the near future as well, making it easier to jump between Carmen and other web services.
Thanks for the comment.
