Message from the CFO
Fiscal Year 2015
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Ohio State again strengthened its investment office by hiring John C. Lane as chief investment officer last fall. John has a wealth of experience, most recently serving as CIO of the $90 billion Ohio Public Employees Retirement System.
Fiscal 2015 was a challenging environment for investment markets, with global equity and bond markets up only slightly, but the university's Long-Term Investment Pool (LTIP) surpassed its benchmark return. The LTIP generated a net investment return of 3.81 percent in fiscal 2015 versus a benchmark return of 1.87 percent. Top contributions came from U.S. eqiuty-oriented funds, private equity partnerships and real asset partnerships. The LTIP is a diversified portfolio and structured to produce strong risk-adjusted rates of return over time.
We are truly inspired by your generosity and we are committed to managing the LTIP in the most professional prudent manner. Fund information is updated quarterly at investments.osu.edu.
