Grace always knew she wanted to teach. Today, her resume is full of enriching experiences that were made more accessible because of others.
Ever since I was a kid, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I can even remember playing “school” at home with my younger sisters. Although they didn’t always like me leading the class, my mom would often say that I would make a good teacher because I had a different way of solving math problems.
Later in high school when one of my teachers told me that I should consider a career in education, it all came together for me and I knew what I wanted to do with my life.
I want to share a heartfelt thank you for the support I’ve received as an Ohio State Lima student from donors! Without it, I would have had to work more than the three or four days a week than I work now, and I wouldn’t have been able to coach middle school and high school girls basketball during my studies.
The decision to attend Ohio State was easy for me — I didn’t even consider any other schools. I’ve always been a Buckeye fan, the university has a great academic reputation, and the College of Education and Human Ecology is highly ranked.
Best of all, I was able to complete my coursework at the Lima Campus and pursue studies in middle school education — all while being close to my family and hometown.
Donors made it possible for me to take full advantage of the opportunities that were presented to me. - Grace Schroeder
Donors are a big reason why my resume looks as good as it does. They made it possible for me to take full advantage of the opportunities that were presented to me. My scholarship support has been a relief and allowed me to finish college without student loans. After graduation, I hope to stay somewhere in Putnam County, Ohio, so I can teach middle school and continue coaching.
In firm friendship,
